The biggest operation in Basra arrested five smugglers of oil from militias

I think it boils down to where the CBI places the most importance. We can look at our own Fed to get a feel for the rv. While our Fed may have sympathy for out of work Americans and for families just getting by from pay check to pay check, thier bigger concern is for the economy. It has in the past and will in the future come first above all else. The Fed Board is a seperate gov. agency that informs but does not answer to any other authority. The Fed Chairman will explain the actions and opinion of the Board Governors but is not influenced by nor required to take advice from anyone outside of the Board Office. To this end my or your employment or purchasing power is no concern when compared to other economic data. Factors causing inflation or deflation are the prime concerns for our Fed Board. To take it a step further, our Fed. Board will not act in any way to support the American stock market. Plain and simple, the Fed. believes that if you take care of the overall economy all else will follow.

I beleive this is the case for the CBI as well. Whatever they choose to value the dinar it wll be for the long term health of the economy. If revaluing the dinar to $.01 or to $2.00 is in their eyes the best thing to halt inflation and shore up the economy thats what they will do. I don't really beleive that the purchasing power of the average Iraqi is first in thier fix list. But inflation is and whatever number they see as the magic bullet is where the dinar will pegged. My rant here is not a prediction as to how high or low the reval will be, but rather to say that factors such as employment and/or purchasing power is not the guiding factors. Our ace on the hole is inflation nothing more. It's the job of the GoI not the CBI to cure the ills of society.

it would be at night after church etc. when this letter/post came out. it would be very possible for them to conviene late on friday. remember that they must have 3 of these and 2 days between so it should take 5 days to complete.

ok so giving the iraqis BACK the wealth they had in order to help curb violence along with improving the standard of living. Also giving the country more purchasing power. these are things they could care less about....right??? ...

Hi Retmil, I believe that employment and purchasing power has alot to do with the economy if they want to try to solve the security problem. I don't believe that the security problem will vanish over night, but it would be a great start at getting the people to start thinking about making a better life for themselves.

Now I wouldnt go that far. Unless you have some verifiable inside source or news article that is just speculation CP. I want this thing to RV yesterday...BUT a slow progressive AND aggressive increase makes more sense. And I could always be wrong....
