OKay here is another thought to ponder......
Question: What currency is this "distribution of revenues" going to be in? In other words would the Iraqi government use the Iraqi dinar, the US dollar, or Picpay to pay their citizens? I would imagine that they are going to use the Iraqi dinar right? After all that is the currency of their country. Now can you imagine the amounts of Iraqi dinar that they would have to hand (or have on hand) out to justify payments for the oil revenues? Lets say that each Iraqi gets $20 (it would probably be ALOT MORE) a month for the oil revenues. Since the Iraqi population is around 26,700,700 How much Iraqi dinar would it take?
1424 X 20= 28,480 dinar
28,480 X 26,700,000= 760,416,000,000 dinar per month...
How many here think this is VERY UNREALISTIC? But IF the dinar was on par with the US dollar THIS WOULD MAKE THE IRAQI DINAR MORE EASILY CONVERTIBLE! than dealing with the vast amount of exchanging plus the amount of dinar that would be circulating just in Iraq alone.Last edited by Pippyman; 10-12-2006 at 05:50 AM.

Has anyone seen any articles about the Compact for Iraq that is supposed to be formalized this week? I haven't seen anything on it.

SignOnSanDiego.com > In Iraq -- Iraqi measure to resolve question of oil wealth distribution nears completion
By Bushra Juhi
ASSOCIATED PRESS
5:31 a.m. December 9, 2006
Oil Ministry Spokesman Assem Jihad said the government hoped that the oil legislation would encourage foreign investment in the oil sector, which has struggled since the imposition of sweeping U.N. sanctions on Iraq following its 1990 invasion of Kuwait. The measure must be approved by the Cabinet and parliament.
