With growing calls for a market economy
The economic expert to the growing calls for a market economy may be valid and important to address the economic imbalances suffered by Iraq. He noted that the role of government remains effective in achieving economic stability through achieving the required growth. Dr. Mahmoud guerrilla professor at the University of Baghdad : It must tax policy, monetary and exchange rate policies
To ensure avoiding inflation and curb price distortions to a minimum and that helps to increase the confidence of economic The dominance of the oil sector had a negative impact on the competitiveness of industrial activities as manufacturing has suffered most industries, especially oil from the experience (artificial increase in the prices of local currencies as a result of excessive dependence on oil exports). D. Guerrilla also said that this has led to high production costs and, consequently, higher commodity prices compared to local and international competitiveness unless encourage production for export or domestic market. because many of the import of finished goods rather than production, this is what has actually happened because of the low cost of industrial experience Iraq.
He pointed out that the policy of economic reform and adjustment in the context of self-reliance is a requirement prior to the President and Iraq is able to meet the challenges and factors inhibiting
Export growth requires liberalization and structural incentives to make prices reflect the true international prices and cost opportunities, then forced domestic producers to restructure their investments and to review the composition of their products in the face of reduced protection and the reduction of distortions in the cost of intermediate products, Those projects that do not have a competitive advantage are being phased out by Mqumha a number of projects with competitive export-oriented. The Ani abolition of price distortions in the market is important for some of the factors of production, including capital, labour and foreign exchange. The domestic interest rates too low and will raise prices to correct the traditional achievement towards excessive in capital-intensive techniques of production and will stimulate the adoption of technology to provide capital and make it more competitive at the international level.
In accordance with the foregoing, it finds that the economic reform programmes in Iraq will require improving labour market flexibility commensurate with the market for the production and raising productivity levels to restore the competitive advantage especially in labour-intensive sectors. I'm guessing things are still quiet regarding any sort of news??? This is starting to get a bit nerve wrecking just waiting to hear ANYTHING at all lol.
I forget if this was mentioned at all yet but is there a specific date as to when the ISX is supposed to open on world markets or is it just speculation? I know that some said in July sometime but it would help if someone can find an actual date if at all possible?
Mike, are you still hearing .40 and Adam, are you still hearing between .70-$1.00? Thanks again to Mike, Adam and anyone else supplying any sort of info about this investment.
Cheers all,
Rob

Hi Mike,
So from what I've gathered, the Foreign Investment Law enactment is waiting on the Kurds at this point in time. Once enacted, seems to me the ONLY thing left is for the ISX to be up and running, but it only makes sense that some sort of peg/reval would need to happen before the ISX is fully operational, right? I wonder, in the general scheme of things, (since you are no novice in this arena) was there the same type of silence before other currencies pegged, (for instance Kuwait's,) that we are currently experiencing?

Hi Kate,
I remember Mike saying earlier that it wasn't the same situation with Kuwait, that the value of the currency increased over time rather than quickly as a result of a reval.
It seems we are getting a lttle nervous (myself incuded) with waiting around with not much news, although Mike's input does provide some reassurance. Perhaps it's an underlying fear of success, but I sure hope this is not something (else) that will go sour at the last minute.
