I don't know much about economics, but wouldn't zero lopping be something to do for an enonomy that is in a downward spiral....not an up and coming one, as we know Iraq to be?

I wish people would quit talking about zero lopping....guess I will just quit reading their posts!

Oh Caroline, what are we to do with you?! you're spending too much time on investorsiraq. The first post I read there this morning was from someone saying they didn't trust the French! the article we're all talking about has nothing to do with the French!!! It's a 'naysayers' forum, depressing. There are half a dozen of the old crowd there I pm but the rest are newbies that only see the negative side and should offload their dinars! Why I rarely go there, other forums much better and positive.

THERE WILL NOT BE A ZERO LOOP. IT WILL BE A 'RAISING' OF 3 ZEROS, WHICH MEANS THAT THEY WILL MOVE THE DECIMAL POINT 3 PLACES TO THE RIGHT, 0.00068 WILL BE 0.68.

With inflation as it is, foreign investment needed badly this makes total sense to me. Also believe it has to be soon.

This article was not a rumour folks.

President discusses ways to open door to investment. (6/27/06)
President of the Republic met with Jalal Talabani, today, Tuesday, 27 / 6 / 2006, Minister of Industry and Minerals Fawzi Hariri, During the meeting, and discussed ways to improve industrial realities in Iraq and open the door to investment and foreign investors Iraqis.
Hariri, said at a press conference held following the reception of the President "has been a fruitful opportunity for us to meet with President Talabani, where she presented his overview of the events experienced by the ministry in the recent period, and has shown an understanding of the sovereignty of the problems faced by the Ministry of Industry affirming support for the industrial sector and improve the quality of production to a level that matches the Iraqi counterparts in the world. "

Isn't this fun to see something official finally that confirms all our dreams of finally getting out from under the PIPS cloud. I can't wait to put it all behind us and move on. And the dinar is about the only thing out there which will make all our losses go away forever. Hang on, we are so so close to what we all dreamed about with PIPS, but who would have thought that one door closing would have opened another with a far greater ROI than any other we have seen. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, so enjoy, even the waiting is fun when you are among friends. I can't wait to meet you all, you all sound like my kind of people, WEALTHY.......... LOL Just kidding, I like poor people too. (g)

Depending on where you live is the only answer, and in NY we are already seeing the housing inventory growing along with reduction in prices, so be patient and you will see a huge drop in the next six months in NY region. We have seen double digit appreciation for the past five years in my area, and a single digit appreciation for the last 16 years, so talk about a bubble ready to burst, this is it. I am preparing to sell my house and downsize, so the timing is perfect for us all since our wealth will be just in time for the real estate implosion. Just be patient, and we all know what that is all about. LOL

It is really hard to imagine them just letting this statement sit out there though. Seems like they would need to stop the auctions or something until the reval is official.

It is so tough to change over night when we have been thrifty all our lives. I know I could not change when I hit it big, and I still have a difficult time booking first class air. I have a hard time justifying twice the price for a few extra inches and a little bit better food. LOL I have no problem booking a private jet though, so go figure. It is like comparing a limo to a taxi, they both get your there, but when you book your first private jet, this is heaven, so go for it choochie, you have to do it at least once in your lifetime. LOL
