With so much being accomplished up to the end of December - will it be more of the same into the new year?
Not a chance! Jan 1st will mark a fresh start - a new beginning - a clean break with the past! Nothing will be the same - everything is on the table and anything becomes possible! I believe that means our dinar could revalue as early as midnight Jan 1st., 2007.
On the CBI 'Things To Do Tomorrow' List - revaluation of the dinar has got to be right near the top!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

NSG=National Salvation Government
The National Salvation "Front" or "government"?
Saleh Al-Mutlaq, the head of the Iraq National Dialouge Front which is a secular coalition that won 11 seats in the Iraqi parliament, has been working to establish a "national salvation front" for the last few months. Many observers think this front is trying to split the current Iraqi government and create a new alternative government.
As-Sadr, the Iraqi leader, is taking serious steps towards pulling out from the government. Many other Iraqi groups, Sunni and Shia and Secular, are planning to follow.
There is a big possibility that some major political announcments will take place tomorrow. Bush is going to Amman to meet with Al-Maliki and other puppets, Al-Sadr might announce his plans to pullout from the government (both parliament and ministries) and others may follow him and suspend their participation in the current government.
Mishaan Al-Juburi, the head of the reconciliation and liberation front, pulled out from the govermnet yesterday and announced that he's waiting for the "national salvation government" to be announced. Many contacts informed me that the National Salvation Front (or government) will be announced maybe tomorrow.
The NSF (NSG) will include most of the Arab parties in the current government. More or less, it'll include everyone except SCIRI and Al-Dawa parties. In addition, it'll include a number of other leaders from outside the current government. They have a plan for ending the occupation and bringing some UN peacekeeping forces for 6 months to deal with the transitional period. The plan is called "the Iraqi-international roadmap". I think 20 international figures, including Mandela, and 30 Iraqi figures, including Shia, Sunni, secular, and kurdish leaders, worked together to put this "road map".
All of this is not confirmed, but there is a real possibility that the next few days/weeks will bring some radical changes.

Interesting,
Yes, Maliki could be gone sooner than expected. As to impeachment, all that has to be done is have the majority vote him out and agree on replacement, and this has been in the works by groups, and judging from all the no shows for votes, I think the majority of members are feeling just a little bit insecure in their positions at the moment.
When you see Bush and Rice meeting wih other leaders in Iraq, sure makes you wonder what is really going on behind the scenes. We heard Sistani mentioned as he holds one of the biggest sticks in his hands, so this is what I see happening. The Kurd's also want more representation, and they deserve it in my opinion as the are true leaders in Iraq, just look what they have contributed, all the major drafts of laws implemented to date, and they were first to enact them in Kurdistan, so hopefully they will have more positions when reshuffle is announced. Should be an interesting week with holiday as behind the curtain activity will surely be active.
Happy New Year to All, Mike

Thanks for this info. The last I had read Al Sadr had made a statement that he and his followers would return to Parliment only after Saddam's death. Now that Saddam has been executed, they all have his permission to return. I believe also that removal of the Baathist party participation was called for? Who's party of this? Isn't Maliki affiliated in some way to the Iranians? I am lost with all the political parties, religions, tribes ect.....Last edited by neno; 01-01-2007 at 02:46 AM.
