The currency converter has the dinar at an improved rate for the first time in the 1.5 years I have been checking the site!!! This is my signal to GET EXCITED!!!!

Per a friend of mine-red robin-who has been watching bloomberg currency indexes-the IQD has finally moved to .0008 from .0007 where it had been for at least a yr. thanks.

4th Nov. A member of the Higher Commission for National Reconciliation Farouq Abdullah that "decisions were made to convene a conference of political forces for national reconciliation on the fourth of next month in Baghdad.
4 Nov. Cairo - The delegation, composed of national reconciliation hailed Ani representative of the Presidency of the Republic and hospitality Faleh member of the reconciliation committee, Saad al-Mutairi representative of the Ministry of National Dialogue, Unadim Kana, a member of the House of Representatives and Saad Hayani Iraq's Ambassador in Jordan visited Cairo from Amman on the fourth of November and joined them in the Cairo-based sold capital of the Iraqi embassy in Cairo, Saad Mohammed Ridha, Ra Alalosi Iraq's representative in the League of Arab States. The delegation held a meeting at the Iraqi embassy in Cairo studied the possibility of establishing mechanisms for political dialogue between the political parties representing the political process in Iraq out of the crisis the country is experiencing. He was scheduled convening of a conference of parties and political forces in early December next but it was postponed for an indefinite period in order to conduct further preparations and meetings by members of the reconciliation committee.

According to the CBI exchange history…they never closed for more than 4 days in a row at years end……

Hmmm.... maybe this is the 10 days that they advertised closing a few months back but never did?

Where have you been? The Dinar started its reval at the start of November and has now gone up to just over 10% (officially).

Because of the holiday the CBI locked it rate at 1325 and said they'll keep it there till the "end of business day on the 7th.".

We have learned of too many things of late to start listing but, they are all pending to about the same time.

Furthermore, all the independant exchange rates have been raising like crazy as the Dinars are drying up fast. We are getting reports from all over of dealers and banks cancelling orders because they are out and what is left are going up in price almost faster than we can keep track.

It is a little known fact that Iraq is now well on its way to becoming a fully-fledged member of the WTO. Iraq has now advanced to step 3 of the accession process and will most likely complete it without most Iraqis knowing it even happened. THE ROLCLUB WILL KNOW ABOUT IT!!

Iraq Prepares to Start Negotiations with World Trade Organization

18 December 2006 - Iraq achieved an important procedural milestone towards its World Trade Organization (WTO) accession bid on December 15, when the WTO General Council formally accepted the country’s nominee for the chairmanship of the Working Party charged with Iraq’s accession process. Ambassador Claudia Uribe of Colombia will serve in this position.

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy hailed the successful agreement on the Chair for Iraq’s Working Party as an “important step in the process of anchoring Iraq in the multilateral trading system” and noted that “the appointment of the Chair… means that the negotiations can now start in earnest.”

This acceptance opens the door for formal face-to-face negotiations to begin in Geneva with Iraq’s WTO Partners at the first Working Party Meeting, which can now be scheduled. “We look forward to working with the Government of Iraq to prepare for the opening of direct talks with the WTO counterparts, which marks a significant phase in Iraq’s accession process”, said Baljit Vohra, Chief of Party of the USAID-funded IZDIHAR project.

IZDIHAR has been assisting the Government of Iraq throughout the process of meeting the procedural requirements for convening the first meeting of the Working Party, such as completing the Memorandum on Foreign Trade Regime (MFTR) and the written “questions and answers”. In addition, IZDIHAR is assisting the Government of Iraq to undertake broad-based legal and trade policy reforms related to its accession into the World Trade Organization.
