On the other hand they DO say "raise its value so that one Dinar be equal to a Dollar"...

Yes lets pray to not see this stupid zero lopping happening :)

    Hi Monica,

You must really be counting your dinars a lot then. LOL Seriously, not to worry, my hands had a residue on them as well after counting millions, a little residue will happen with all currencies. Ask your bank teller how many times they have to wash their hands in day, or your casino cashier, it is normal.

    Good luck to all, Mike

It may just be a "language gap" that is causing the confusion...I do not claim to know the syntax of the Arabic/Aramaic. However, when I read the statement "lifting" three zeroes from the exchange rate, I personally took it to mean multiplying by 1000...This gives you the $0.68 US to 1 Dinar that we've all been talking about. Just my take on it...

    Hi Karin,

You have to realize this was a translation, and as we all know, each language does not always translate the same. Having heard this from Engilsh speaking Arabs confirms your last sentence, which is the most important, the dinar is to raise to the former value, starting at a dollar for dinar, that is all we want to hear. Who cares what some want to say about lopping and lift, this is an issue of transalation, but the fact remains, value of dinar is rising as we all have waited for a long time.

    Good luck to all, Mike

Yikes...I sure hate and never appreciate handling old notes in my hands...let alone have stacks about on me... after handling with paper money, I always try to get my hands wiped clean somehow...

Iraq PM, Insurgents Communicate Via E-Mail
    Wednesday, June 28, 2006 4:41 PM EDT
    The Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — In a sign of the e-times, Iraq's prime minister has set up an e-mail account to communicate with insurgents.

Nouri al-Maliki had the address flashed during a broadcast Sunday night on state-run al-Iraqiya television. It was advertised as an address to which insurgents could write and be assured confidentiality.

Al-Maliki unveiled his national reconciliation plan earlier in the day, calling on insurgents to lay down their arms and offering a limited amnesty for fighters who had not committed terrorist acts or killings.

Mahmoud Othman, a Kurdish lawmaker and close associate of President Jalal Talabani, confirmed al-Maliki set up an e-mail account but did not have details about how many electronic messages had been received.

But Iraqi presidential security adviser Wafiq al-Samaraie said the response so far had been low, with just two messages reportedly arriving Wednesday. The government did not repeat the address after the initial broadcast to prevent it from being flooded with junk mail.
