Every couple of weeks another gem of a fact pops up. The petro dollar being questioned by saddam raised some eyebrows for me.

    some other nuggets:

this first statement is not proved but i like it anyways.
Natural gas reserves for Iraq are impressive at 3.15 trillion cu m.
Iraq holding 113 billion barrels of economically viable proven reserves and another 215 billion barrels of probable & possible reserves

A new round of financing from the IMF -- worth "a few hundred" million dollars -- would not go to building projects but would bolster the central bank's finances and backstop the Iraqi currency

IRAQ PRIME MINISTER JAAFARI:We look forward to the international community to stand beside us, and we believe that this is a humanitarian stance. And we hope that Mr. Bush will try to redo a Marshall Plan, calling it the Bush Plan, to help Iraq, to help the Iraqi people. And this would be a very wonderful step that they stand beside us.

Why bother, in a hundred years there will still be fighting going on in Iraq, just as there has been since the beginning of time. You just don't get it, killing is part of everyday life in these regions and unrest will continue long after US leaves, this you can bet on, but guess what, the economy is not impacted by the isolated killings. War, yes, you could call it a war, just as Jordan had now declared war against terrorism, but is it any different than what is going on in Iraq. NO.

    Good luck to all, Mike

Adster, do you know of a site anywhere that offers info on how to deal with this tax wise? I'm curious. When you trade in a large amount of dinar, do you have to confess to your true identity and all that? I'd love to just keep, oh say, $30,000 or $40,000 around for fun, but a person has to pay bills sooner or later, and the fed is funny about where you get your money. This is in the way of putting the cart before the horse, but I have a feeling the horse is coming along pretty soon, and I'd love to have a plan in place. Anyone have any suggestions?
yours in beer, (or, just trying to stay aHEAD...)
