    OK guys calm down!!!
Why would all these countries be setting on dinar if a reprint was going to happen? Not to mention it being financial suicide for Iraq. Read this post again slowly and let it sink in!
    Look at this scenerio-

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I understand them and special thanks to the example Invisible man gave, it really brought home the idea. I decided to do this for the benefit of newcomers. I laid the two out so the reader can evaluate them both and draw a conclusion. If this is similar to another post I apologize ahead of time.

The lopping theory says knock off three zeros off the currency and push to the dollar.

    Lets see:

    Iraqi has 3000 dinar pre war at the rate of .30 USD was worth about $900.00 USD. After the invasion a one for one exchange of dinar is made and the rate becomes 1450/ dollar so now that same 3000 dinar is now worth about $ 2.04 USD now lets lop;

Knock off three zeros and lift to the dollar. Now you have 3 dinars worth 1.00 each so the prewar worth of the Dinar was $900.00 USD now it has become $3.00USD. So democracy has yielded a loss of $877.00 USD in this case.
How in Jesus’ name is that parity with the dollar and how does that benefit this person?

No it does not work and would make this person yearn for the good ole days of Saddam.

Do you think the US is going to let that happen? I do not think so.

Now we have the lifting of the three zeros off the exchange rate.

    3000 dinars @.30 pre war = $900.00USD now valued at $2.04 USD

Lets lift: current exchange rate @ .000685 New rate becomes .685

3000 dinars now revalues post war to $2055.00 USD

This gives that same person $1155.00 USD profit or increase on his monies worth.
Now to this person democracy has really paid and improved his quality of life. He likes democracy under this formula.

After looking at this it becomes simple to understand, which direction is the proper one both financially and politically. But you decide for yourselves. I'm sure the reality will prove that this is the road Iraq soon takes.

    Hi all,

Right now it looks as most talk is just on speculation and observation.

Changing the dinar is always an option for the Iraqi government, but does not really seem to be the most viable.

The Iraqi government would offer a grace period for the "old" dinar to be exchanged/turned in to deplete it from circulation. Doesn't seem to be a big problem whatever they decide.

The dinar is going to peg and it is surely going to be worth more than the purchase price I paid, which makes me happy, doesn't make me a millionair, but makes me happy all the same.

    Great success to us all.

    Kozmar

Reconciliation plan received good responses from armed groups -- Maliki

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.kuna.net.kw/Home/Story.as...en&DSNO=885187 Regarding his recent visit to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Al-Maliki said it was successful by all means, stressing that those Gulf countries are ready not only to contribute in rebuilding Iraq, but also to in supporting the security and political process. He said weapons should only be used by the government and its security and military systems, stressing that the existence of parties' militias is not in the interest of Iraq.
Al-Maliki stressed that no civil war is expected to erupt in his country and that security systems are still controlling the situation, despite the occurrence of some "sad events", pointing out he will visit Mosul next week to check the city's situations.

Yes Neno, alot of people will sell off due to the last couple of days news. That's exactly what they want to happen. I can guarantee you that the big boys ain't selling. It's the ninth inning, bases are loaded, are you swinging for the fence or are you going to strike out? We've come this far, might as well ride it out. I think we will all be pleased in the end. Cig

    Default Here's A Thought

Why is a reprint an option for the new Iraqi government. I don't understand how or why that would help anything regarding Iraqs ecconomy. I realize that there is much I don't understand in the field of ecconomics but I think I do have good common sence and for the Iraqi government to reprint their currency does not make common sence to me, does it to anyone else?

I am in with you cigarman. The long haul. As far as striking out.......Not me there is two outs already and everyone is counting on me......So no I am not stricking out. This is my sight....I see the swing and it is the big one that only happens every once and in awhile.

Now you could do that and walk away happy. But remember their goal. To get back to pre war days. I think this is a call too. For the ones that hang on to part for later and get even a bigger return.
