Finance Minister announced a statement of Iraqi boat, "that the ministry and the Central Bank of studying a proposal to raise the value of the Iraqi dinar. and then return to normal.






On 25 February, Al-Baghdadiyah cited a source a the Central Bank of Iraq as saying that the exchange rate of the Iraqi Dinar will rise significantly against the US dollar during 2006.






The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank a proposal to lift the value of the Iraqi dinar, etc., etc.

He pointed out the determination of financial authority to convene a meeting next month comprising experts and specialists in finance and the CBI and Commercial Bank in order to do so

Thanks for that Adster, going on from that rumour is it possible that the dollar equivalent of the SDR peg could be $1.68. I also hear that there is a lot of hoarding of dinars going on in Iraq and surrounding countries ready for for the peg.

Quite possible Abbey although I feel with the hint of the top knobs mentioning clarity with the US dollar that a 1:1 is most likely. It will also make it easier with the newer smaller denoms when they bring them out. Also if you think about it, they've mentioned 'lifting' zeros, now we all read this to be on the exchange rate, ie 0.00068, now take it 3 ways to the right would be 0.68 which is equal to the SDR, which is roughly equal to 1 dinar to 1 dollar.

Although they could effectively r/v at anything they want backed with oil, (and they have only found 10% of all the oil in Iraq which is huge in itself) I feel it won't initially be r/v'd as high as 1.68.

As for the second part, yes a lot of people are hanging on now. I read and it was probably on here about bank raiders robbing a bank of 1.4 billion dinars, now they were either very stupid or very bright! I think the latter.

Hey Raditz, the news you heard about August said it would happen by August 14th. That could mean today, tomorrow, next week, or any other day BY August 14th. I still feel good about July. I think we'll have a great weekend. JMHO.
