I wish that truly was the case...for where we are across the pond, only the main "jackpot" prize is FREE from being taxed. 2nd and downward prizes are subjected unfortunately, unless the lottery of whatever sort or type conducted is illegal and participated by a select few (several hundreds or a little over a thousand players) is usually regarded as a worthy gamble & lucrative for illegal gambling. Vice of this nature is always a temptation worth the risk taken by some quarters of any soceity... nothing new either.
