Nice one PH. I posted elsewhere today and would have here but the site has been down. I phoned Bloomberg today and spoke to a US Trader regarding the dinar. I was told it would soon be trading, no timescale was given, either she didn't know or wouldn't let on! But the fact it's on their and Yahoo's site is big IMO and shows before long it'll be a fully tradeable currency. Not been on Yahoo's site since Feb 05 and THEY ONLY LIST INTERNATIONAL CURRENCIES HENCE THIS ONE IS ON THERE WITH NO VALUE SO FAR. No other reason why they would relist it unless it's soon going to be a fully convertible currency.

The exchange rate remains stable and reserves continue to grow in Iraq, according to an International Monetary Fund (IMF) August 2006 report.

The exchange of the Iraqi dinar to the U.S. dollar has remained close to 1,475 at the daily auctions, which have been conducted free of any restrictions.

The net international reserves of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), which reached $11.5 billion at the end of 2005, increased to $12.7 billion by end-April, above projected levels under the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) and comfortably above the program floor (performance criterion) of $7.5 billion.

Currency in circulation grew by 27.9 percent in 2005, and by a further 6.1 percent in the first quarter of 2006.

The Iraqi economy remains predominantly cash-based, with cash comprising nearly two-thirds of total broad money, which is growing more slowly.

I was reading a post on another forum, the guy was in the US Air Force, he said that a russia cargo plane picked up a full load of dinar and was heading to the world bank. My question is what does this mean?

"(MENAFN) Iraq's Oil Minister declared lately that Iraq's crude oil production is back to 2.5 million barrels per day after repairing the pipeline that transport oil to Turkey, Market Watch reported.

The minister said plans are under way to raise Iraq's oil production to reach 3 million b/d by the end of the current year, and raise it by 500,000 b/d annually by 2010.

The minister added that agreements being negotiated with foreign oil companies will be by no means limited to U.S. companies, and Iraq will take the advantage of such European energy firms such as BP PLC (BP), Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA), Total SA (TOT) and other Chinese firms."

OK Pipshurricane, I need your great detective work. Rumor is President Bush is meeting Friday at Camp David with the Iraq Minister of Finance to discuss economic policies. It was supposedly mentioned on a news station but I'm sure it's in print somewhere and I know if anybody can find it you can.

This is how they brought in first batches of new currency, twenty seven cargo planes, so this, if true, is another piece of the puzzle which we have all been waiting on. So where did this plane pick up dinar from, or is it Pukin stocking up now that his Rosneft IPO oil rip off of YUKOS didn't go as well as hoped. (g)
