Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.
Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

I have my reasons
If you study Iraq's economy and what's been done until this point you can justify the rates. Iraq is already at previous outputs for oil with better facilities to come. Also you need to add in the agriculture that has been rectified such as dates, wheat, etc. The GNP of Iraq is low but if you size it up against other surrounding Arab states they can reval at the rates I listed.

Looks like the kurds are tired of waiting
Looks like the kurds are tired of waiting on the rest of Iraq to get their act together. Maybe this will cut the holidays short.

Seems to me the general feeling on other forums is that of negativity at the moment. Perhaps because of the silence, the goverment on hols, lack of FIL and insurgency attacks in and around Baghdad.
My own thoughts are that we will get the FIL passed by mid September with a r/v at the same time. I just feel they have to get the ball rolling. By continuing at the current pathetic rate with inflation rising and their own people struggling to buy day to day goods for their families has to end. Remember this is a suppressed rate, an artifical rate that is not a true reflection on Iraq's wealth.
The troops in and around Baghdad by all accounts have been successful in rounding up the low lifes. There will never be total ceasefire between their people with different beliefs but there must come a time when the government takes a gamble and release their currency back on the world markets with at the very least a small r/v. They need to import, how can they at 1477? Everything they bring in costs them 1477 times whatever the value is, crazy. With the dinar at 1:1 with the dollar they could import and everything would be 1 dinar times whatever the value is they're importing.
All this bs that they can't r/v and it's never been done before but when in history has there been a country in the same situation with so much oil undiscovered? Whatever rate they r/v there will be bigger fish coming in. If we cashed in at .68, bigger institutes would buy in with the prospect of it going to $1-$2. Failing that they can peg the oil to a high r/v.
I also believe Bush is doing all he can to push this along. His supporters are at the lowest they have been since being elected and people are losing faith in him. Now if Iraq can be seen to be a success in the way insurgencies are curbed and they have a successful economy leading to jobs, money, wealth for their people and hence happiness, then Bush's popularity would rise immensely, not forgetting the huge income the US would recover to pay for this war.
With big meetings coming up 12th and 13th September, parliament meetings on 2nd, and not forgetting the integration of Iraq back into the international fold via the International Compact, September will be more interesting as Mike would say than August was.Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.

Last night on either CNN or FOXNews I was watching the ticker along the bottom of the screen...did anyone else see the part about the Iraqi oil workers threatening to go on strike if their wages aren't increased?
And IF this happens, what would it do for the BIG PICTURE?
I'm thinking that with the prices of everything being raised, these people can't afford anything with their wages as they are....
