Second in command of Al-Qaeda in Iraq arrested

BAGHDAD, Sept 3 (KUNA) -- Al-Qaeda second-in-command in Iraq has been arrested in a military raid north of Baghdad, National Security Advisor Dr. Muwaffak Al-Rubei announced Sunday.

Al-Rubei told a press conference that Hamid Faris Al-Saedi, better named, Abu Hammam and Abu Rana, was netted by Iraqi security north of the capital.

According to Rubei, Al-Saedi is the second in command after Abu Ayyoub Al-Masri, who was named Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq after the killing of Abu Musaab Al-Zarqawi in a special military operation near Baqoba earlier this year.

Al-Rubei said Al-Saedi is thought to be directly responsible for Haytham Al-Badri, the fugitive mastermind behind the blowing of two holy shrines in the city of Samarra a few months earlier.

During the conference, Al-Rubei outlined terrorist activities and cells under the command of Al-Saedi.

Default It's Getting Better And Better!!!

Hello everyone, I've not been keeping up with all the latest news regarding Iraq lately but after a quick review this morning, I can see that there is much progress being made. The systematic house to house searches are yielding great returns of weapons caches and arest of important key figures of insurgents. New laws are being hammered out that will protect not only investors and their money but even tourist.

I know that we all hope for the New Iraqi Currency to increase our wealth any day now, I know I do. However, whether this new currency begins to trade in the global currency market this week or next or whenever, it will eventually, there's no doubt in my mind that it will trade right along with all other foreign currencies sooner or later. The new Iraq Government along with the help of the US and coalition forces will not stop until they have succeeded in squelching any and all resistance to the success of the new government.

So, whether this takes a short time or a long time, just hang in there. We will be rewarded eventually, there is no doubt. We keep hearing new dates for a revalue and that can be very frustrating when we all think that it's about to happen and then it doesn't. I recommend ignoring the dates and just watch the news of all the progress that's being made in Iraq day by day and week by week, all the while knowing that as long as things keep getting better and better that sooner and sooner Iraq will be up and running much like Quwait and probably even better and the value of it's currency will soar. All we have to do is wait and of course keep buying more NID's as long as you can afford it.

When the NID's are made tradable in the global market along with all other currencies, I don't know a what price it will start but it really doesn't matter, once it's trading it will increase in value. We might even see it spike up sharply in the beginning and it might be very volatile at first but don't make any sudden decisions, just watch and wait for it to climb well above 3.00 to the dollar.

That's my two cents worth anyway.

    Nice post Rodney,

You are correct, we have seen far more accomplished than anyone thought could be completed a year ago, so we are indeed fortunate to have been able to catch this tsunami wave to wealth no matter when it breaks for we know it will, and that is comforting.

With $2 al Qaeda captured this past week, and the massive sweep going on this month, no doubt they have to be on their last legs now as far as outside terrorist activity. Yes, we still see infighting, and it blows my mind that even Shiite's are killing Shiite's now, for they are so blinded with hate they kill anyone now. Maybe these illiterates will wake up one morning and find they killed their only families and stop all this insane needless killing.

Well, either way, we are a lot closer to revalue then ever, so hang in there, patience is easy when you know the outcome, and we all do. Yes, dates can be frustrating, it sure was for me, but with the security in Baghdad the critical issue which is a moving target, obviously it also moves the announcement dates, so again, our patience will be greatly rewarded. We are almost there, so close, it could be Tuesday. (g) Just kidding, wishful thinking, I have heard nothing new other than it is all tied to security in Baghdad.

    Good luck to all, Mike

    Default Hey Mike

    Good Morning Mike, OSW,

I posted this yesterday and I sure would like your take on it. Could you please give it a look and tell my your thoughts? Thanks a bunch. I still can't post on some of the threads at IIF or I would ask sgs myself.

    Post by shotgunsusie 9-02-06:
call around for best rates. the more people with dinar you go in the bank with the more bargaining power you will have for rate.
ask around and find someone on here that lives close to you that will go in to get exchanged at the same time. 20 million together sounds better than 3 or 4 here and 5 here and 1.4 here, etc. use the money to your advantage.

remember that your money will more than likely be sent to a regional office for verification before the numbers reflect in your account. but all this is an entirely different subject and best left to the accountants and banking personel who are on this forum who would best assist at that point in the venture.

This was posted by shotgunsusie today. Not totally getting it. I tried to post to ask her myself but you have to wait and have your post approved and so on and so on.

So, how could having more dinar get you a better rate? Will not all banks exchange at the same rate and that rate being whatever it has r/v'd at or pegged at? And if we do have to fill out a form for anything over 10k who would want to have to take responsibility for the whole amount?

If anyone here knows what she is saying would you please explain to me. Like I said before, I'm just not getting it.

    Thanks,
    Monica

    Hi-ya Monica

What SGS meant by her post is...the more money you have, the better customer you are, and you are offered lower exchange rates and higher interest rates when it comes to accounts/CD's etc. (They WANT
    customers with lots of money!)

So she was saying if there are a couple people that can get together and go to the bank with a LARGER SUM of money, they can basically BARGAIN for a better exchange rate. Would the bank rather LOSE the potential HUGE customer over 1/2% because the bank down the street will "beat their rate"? NO! We will DEFINITELY have the power to "talk" things to our own advantage when the reval happens...the phrase "jumping through hoops to please the customer" comes to mind!

    Tiff
