Iraqi Minister of Oil, Hussain al-Shahristani, praised the cabinet’s support for the ministry’s plans and implored all workers to share in the effort to overcome the current troubles, reported al-Mutamar.

With reference to the recent post by Tim410, I know it has been challenged as either old or total rubbish, but there is one line that does concern me, and I would therefore like someone here to address it.

The line in question is this:

This point has been at the back of my mind even though I'm quite positive.

Let's say we get the reval we all want at $1.15 for example, the above is then an extremely valid point. Yes, prices and salaries would be immediately adjusted, but anyone in Iraq holding a bundle of dinars would instantly become wealthy... and they wouldn't have to be holding much.

Considering this, is a reval a realistic possibilty, over and above a zero lop or a float at current rates, and if so, what impact would the above scenario have?

Okay, here is how i see this.

When Hussain talks about the investment law expected next month, i belive he is talking about the oil law, and not FIL. Because why would the oil minister go out and make a statement on when the FIL will be passed?

This is just another article that have been translated a bit wrong

The average Iraqi has no savings so it will not be an issue for the majority of the population. The Iraqis that used to be wealthy before the war and have a modicum of savings will be returned to their pre-war wealthy status as a result of the reval.
