Cheers Lightrayspips. ;0)
Zubaidi:Monetary value of the Iraqi dinar must revert to the previous level, or at least to acceptable levels as it is in the Iraqi neighboring states.
Shabibi:The bank wants as a means to affect the economic and monetary policy by making the dinar a valuable and powerful.

3) Development of a training program in trading;
4) Granting of permission to the non Iraqi Investors for Trading;
5) Joining the International and Arabic Federation for Exchanges;
6) Acceptance for listing Iraqi unlisted Companies;
7) Using New Financial Investments especially Governmental and Non Governmental Funds;
8) Restricting the role of ISX in Privatization of General Sector Companies; and
9) Introduction of a new composite index in cooperation with Dow Jones. The index will be free float weighed index.
Number 9 means that they will need a convertible currency to allow non Iraqi investors to trade an Iraqi index in cooperation with the Dow Jones. If they had just said, allow non iraqi investors to trade that might not have been the case, those with Iraqi bank accounts would have been the only ones eligible to trade. They stated in cooperation with DOW JONES and the Dow is traded in dollars. You have to be able to have a readily convertible dinar. It's on !!!!
For YEARS I've been saying that the ISX will never be able to handle international trade without a convertible currency.
Say I want to invest in an Iraqi company
I want to invest a.k.a "give money to that Iraq company".
That Iraqi company can't do ANYTHING with my money unless its convertible to IQD.
I can be a US investor, German investor, Japanese investor, any investor in the world. Without a convertible currency you CAN NOT invest. Its as if you had diamonds that you wanted to sell and I wanted to buy them. But instead of cash that had worth.... I only had clam shells. There's no other country in the world that uses clam shells as currency (at least I think so ) and since those clam shells aren't worth anything anywhere else in the world. You probably wouldn't sell me your diamonds.
The ISX going online and international would be a great if not biggest indicator.
Thing is, it will be made convertible BEFORE the ISX goes international (look at example above)
You can't have foreign investment and no convertible currency. Actually, thats whats going on now. Tons of people want to invest, but they can't. There is news thats coming out daily. This is the best time I've seen in years in regards to the IQD!!!!
Also, I'm reading this morning from several fronts that a revalue could happen on Monday. Please take it for what it is, a rumour and don't shoot the messenger. The people posting this have heard through their sources and are 'credible' on the forum.
As I say take it for what it is, I'm not one to post rumours but to have several different people saying this is quite positive. We'll see, I'm sitting on the fence and believe there will be a revalue in the first 3 months of 2006. If it was Monday, well, hey what a start to the New Year, LOL.Last edited by Adster; 31-12-2005 at 01:39 PM.

Great!
Adster! This is great news! I am so glad you break things down. I have gone to the other forum almost every day, but still don't understand much of what is said. It is nice to have someone put it out there the way you do. Thanks!
