    Dealers

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I spoke to mine this morning, He told me that the other dealers have stopped selling as of today. He also told me I could come in on monday to do the exchange and that I could have my money within 24 hours.

The dealers are evidently buying into this rumor as well. Some may be taking orders to be sent next week, but will cancel if the reval happens.
Time will give us the answer and it's less then 36 hours away.

Personally I will rent a car and head north to cash in. IF this is the real deal.

My birthday horoscope said admission to an elite group is featured in September. I am hoping for the Millionaires Club of America. (not the one someone posted a few weeks back:-)

Just wanted to let everyone know what I found out today. I decided to go to Bank of America and open an account. I asked how I would go about cashing in some foreign currency. I was told to go through the teller line. I was also told that I could not cash in until my account was 6 months old. Oh my gosh, that was the whole reason for opening the account. I will try US Bank tomorrow to see what they say, I have an account there and with the Credit Union. When I asked the credit union today, they said they can sell but they can not cash it in for me. Now what am I going to do?

This place will cash in your currency at the exchange rate. You can fedex your currency with the downloadable form but make sure you send it registered etc. Check out their website. They then send you a check. Also they have travelex at the airports and you can cash at most major airports. I called the one closest to me and they said that if you are cashing in $400 or whatever of currency or less then it is a $4 charge...anything over 400 in whatever currency it is like 400 IQD etc then it is FREE but, the won't give you a check....they give you CASH. That is a lot of cash to be carrying around...so. My understanding is Travelex is worldwide. Hope this helps.

Default U.S. Teams with Iraqi Partners to Rebuild Baghdad

    9/15/2006 4:23:00 PM

    To: National Desk

Contact: Howie Lind of the Iraq Project and Contracting Office, 703-696-1423

WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A Joint Operations Center for Reconstruction is coordinating and synchronizing reconstruction efforts throughout Baghdad to prioritize projects being built to improve quality of life for residents. Reconstruction liaison teams are visiting Baghdad neighborhoods to identify short-term and long term projects, such as trash removal, sewage, water treatment and electric distribution projects that will make recognizable, immediate improvements to their current living conditions.

They are currently focusing on six key neighborhoods, -- Adhamiyah, Ghazaliyah, Ameriyah, East Mansour, Bayaa and Doura. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has set aggressive goals that they expect to reach by the second week in October:

-- To improve electricity to 3,000 homes.

-- To improve wastewater disposal to 3,500 homes.

-- To improve educational opportunities to 1,000 students.

    Some of these projects are:

-- Adhamiyah, population: 390,000: Renovate /construct 28 schools to provide classrooms support for 8,400 students. Currently, there are 18 renovated/constructed schools supporting 5,400 students.

-- Doura, population: 265,000: Increase potable water supply. The Wathba Water Treatment Plant will supply clean water to about 192,000 residents, including the hospital district.

-- Baghdad, population: 5.5 million: Construct 23 fire stations to provide fire protection services for 575,000 people.

Throughout Iraq, the Department of Defense has 3,827 total planned projects of $12.1 billion. More than 3,485 projects are under construction for a total of $4.29 billion. A total of 2,842 projects have been completed at a cost of $7.21 billion.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to aggressively move forward in cooperation with many other agencies, namely the U.S. State Department and USAID. The Joint Contracting Command -- Iraq/Afghanistan has focused efforts on maximizing contract awards to Iraqi-owned business. This empowers the citizens of Iraq to play a major role in rebuilding their nation and helps boost the country's economy.

In the past 10 months, the Army Corps of Engineers has awarded 1,772 contracts to Iraqi-owned businesses, totaling more than $468 million, or 77 percent, of all of the Corps' contracts in Iraq.

Default Iraqis plan to surround Baghdad with trench

    Published: September 15, 2006
BAGHDAD The Iraqi government plans to seal off Baghdad next month by ringing it with a series of trenches and setting up dozens of traffic checkpoints to control movement in and out of the city of seven million people, an Interior Ministry spokesman said Friday.

The effort is one of the most ambitious security projects in recent memory, with cars expected to be funneled through 28 checkpoints along the main arteries snaking out from the capital. Smaller roads would be closed off. The trenches would run across farmland or other open areas to prevent cars from evading the checkpoints, said the ministry spokesman, Brigadier General Abdul Karim Khalaf.

"We're going to build a trench around Baghdad so we can control the exits and entrances so people will be searched properly," he said during a telephone interview. "The idea is to get the cars to go through the 28 checkpoints that we set up." U.S. military officials said they were familiar with the plan, which has been in the works for weeks.

Studies were still being conducted to determine how traffic patterns would be affected. If the outer perimeter proved effective, then perhaps some checkpoints now being operated inside the city could be taken down, easing the traffic congestion that plagues Baghdad everyday, officials said.

Over the summer, U.S. commanders made Baghdad the focus of the military enterprise in Iraq because the sectarian conflict raging in the capital threatens to plunge Iraq into all-out civil war. A security plan promoted in June by American officials and Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki involved setting up traffic checkpoints throughout Baghdad. But it failed to dampen the Sunni-Shiite violence, which reached a peak in July.

Last month, the Americans and the Iraqi government began a new tactic, flooding troubled neighborhoods with thousands of troops and doing searches block-by-block, then leaving battalions behind to try and win the confidence of residents. That sweep began in southern and western Baghdad and is now moving into eastern neighborhoods controlled by the Mahdi Army, a powerful militia that answers to the firebrand Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr.

The wide cordon to be constructed around the city is critical to the new security plan and will be completed within weeks, Khalaf said.

It was unclear whether such a project could actually work given the size of Baghdad, whose circumference measures about 95 kilometers, or 60 miles. With so much terrain, insurgents and militiamen might find areas that are unconstrained by the trenches and checkpoints. On the main roads, traffic could be snarled for long stretches, especially in the final days of the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan, when people travel to celebrate with their families.

The U.S. military and the Iraqi government have set up similar perimeters around troubled cities that are much smaller than the capital. The most prominent example is Falluja, the insurgent stronghold in western Iraq that had 300,000 residents before a Marine- led siege in November 2004.

Since then, the U.S. military and the Iraqi security forces have run the city as a mini-police-state, with people who want to enter required to show identification cards at checkpoints on the main roads. The travelers are occasionally patted down and their cars searched.

The U.S. military built dirt berms with limited entry points around the volatile town of Samarra in the north and Rawah in the western desert.

The Baghdad morgue has reported that at least 1,535 Iraqis died violently in the capital in August, a 17 percent drop from July but still much higher than virtually all other months. U.S. military officials have disputed the morgue's numbers, saying military data show that the "murder" rate dropped by 52 percent from July to August. But officials have acknowledged that that metric does not include deaths from bombings and rocket or mortar attacks.

There has been a surge in the number of Iraqis killed execution-style in the last few days. On Friday, seven bodies were found in four different parts of Baghdad, an Interior Ministry official said. An American soldier was killed by a roadside bomb south of Baghdad on Friday, and another soldier was killed Thursday night by a bomb northwest of Baghdad, the military said. A soldier was missing after an attack in Baghdad on Thursday in which a suicide car bomber killed two soldiers and wounded 30 others. In Anbar Province, an American Marine died in combat.

True we have problems and challenges, but an indication that Iraq has begun to return to normal and recovering. However Turkey reached and signed memoranda for the expansion of trade exchange as well as with Iran and signed trade agreements and oil. The gold that time when everyone is addressed Iraq with other countries through conferences and meetings and through diplomatic and political favors and then deal with the world as a rival and become the world is watching with the other ».

Zebari said Al Unfortunately there preconceived positions of some Arab countries of Iraq, political stances projection, We are convinced that we have to follow in our not wait for one as well, and Sentuasl with Arab countries that failed to open their embassies in Baghdad. We example, we opened our embassy in Saudi Arabia and in Kuwait ».

The Foreign Minister said that the Iraqi people, not the government alone, to see that the very same does not see Arab presence in Iraq. at least for communication or access or show Arab positions such as assistance in the area of national reconciliation, or some of the projects instead of taking a passive spectator, which is a position indication, this is what our chagrin. The democratic political process will not stop in Iraq and will await him one ».

Zebari complained that there is regional interventions in Iraqi affairs of all the neighboring states or to the degree that, with the exception of one or two, interventions to exist, there is reliance on the failure of the political process and the failure of the democratic project in Iraq. But the Iraqis are determined to ensure the success of their project despite all the bad conditions, there is killing, slaughter and Iraqis defending their country and their liberty, Any country in the world is this bitter experience with their Ettaba But this evidence of the authenticity of our people in defiance of the harsh conditions ». He said, "We have frank talk with all neighboring countries on their interventions in the internal Iraqi affair and the visit of Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki» recent Tehran to take a delegation specializing in security matters carry with him the files of information and evidence and proof and explicit requests to stop Iranian interference in Iraqi security issue and the need to strengthen cooperation a for security and the prevention of infiltration and prevent the infiltration of arms and influence the internal situation in a way, as well as with Syria made of things ».

Addressing Zebari neighboring countries, saying, "on those states not think that we do not have alternatives or that we are incapable, quite often we tolerate and we have mechanisms and the influence of certain options did not use it until now respect and appreciation for our neighbors and to preserve its security and stability, This is not a threat, we will resort to such tactics, no, we have mechanisms and options if we will resort to it ».

On the Iraqi passport, Zebari said Al Iraqi passport needs time to be seen by other countries into the other, because of the security conditions and terrorism exists in Iraq and misbehavior, currently there is a serious attempt to get a new fulfills all the conditions and specifications to prevent forgery, He added, "The Iraq would deal with the citizens of the countries that deal with the Iraqi poorly Similarly», and he said "the diplomatic principle of reciprocity and the principles of international law, in all parts of the world, and Iraq has not been excluded from this and does not respect our citizens will take the same action with their fellow citizens».
