    Warrants issued against 88 ex-officials

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Baghdad, 27 September 2006 (Gulf News)
Arrest warrants have been issued against 88 former Iraqi officials, including 15 ministers, on charges of corruption, an independent anti-corruption commission said yesterday.

Among those wanted are 61 "living as fugitives abroad", said Ali Al Shabout, spokesman for the Public Integrity Commission. Interpol has been informed that they are wanted for prosecution in Iraq, he said.

The agency, which answers to parliament, is run by a judge who serves a five-year term. It was established in 2003 after the US-led invasion.

Iraq has been struggling to deal with endemic corruption in the civil services. Al Shabout said the agency has documented the loss of $7.5 billion (about Dh27 billion) through corruption over the past three years.

At the end of the last year, six arrest warrants on corruption charges were issued against former Iraqi ministers who served in the two previous postwar governments.

One of those six was Iraq's former electricity minister, Ayham Al Samarie, who was arrested last month in Iraq. Al Samarie, a dual Iraq-US citizen and Sunni Arab political figure, stands accused of financial and administrative irregularities.

They would probably not be making 20 million dinars over a 3 year period. I hope I'm missing something.
20 million Dinar @ the current rate can't even buy them a decent car...
There has to be some type of clause or back door clause if you would set for them in this loan agreement...
I would think people of the Iraqi Gov/Parliment to be better off than most in Iraq...
I can see them giving the really bad off poor people of Iraq a 20 million Dinar loan @ the current value to help out a little not the people who are better off than most...
So I don't see where this makes any sense @ the current value of Dinar which leads me to think they have some back door clause set to cover them when RV hits... This is how the rich get richer... JMO that something is not right here...

Please excuse me for noticing, but 20 million dinars divided by 36 months equals 555,5555.55 dinars per month. If you divide that by 1474 dinars equaling 1 usd then figures to 376.90 per month usd to be repaid. If i dinar equals 1 dollar then you have them paying back 555K usd figure per month. They are only making 5K per month usd. Do the math, it doesn't seem to work out. :)

Maybe I am missing it somewhere but it seems as though they are saying no r/v at this point. :( Any comments?

Are we there yet? I'm getting really tired of waiting and I am getting wet from all of the dribbling. Come on you know it is the right thing to do for your country. R/V the thing in 1 large dramtic move to over 1 usd at least (1 sdr will be fine for a start) will ya?

Just a thought but if the Parliment members make $5,000 US dollars a month, like someone stated in a previous post why would they need a 20 million dinar loan (about 14k US).

Sassy, I'm in Phoenix and purchased my dinar at the Chase Bank at 83rd Ave & T-Bird. I was told that you can purchase them at any Chase Bank. Yesterday when there was some confusion about a meeting and it was said that Chase would no longer exchange, I called the 83rd Ave/T-Bird branch
(623-878-2630)as well as a branch at 67th Ave & Peoria (602-589-3111). They both told me I could come in to purchase and there was a 48hour turn around.

    Red face

    Does this make any since?

    20 million divided by 275 people = 72,727 each

72,727 divided by 36 months = 2020 dinar per month.

    2020 X .00070 = $1.41 USD

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
