Baghdad, Sep 27, (VOI) – Iraqi Oil ministry is developing new mechanisms to deal with many investment bids by international oil companies, the ministry media spokesman said on Wednesday.

“Many international companies offered bids for oil investment in Iraq,” spokesman ‘Asim Jihad told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

Iraq will soon announce investment agreements with some of these companies, Jihad said.
“Iraqi oil minister Hussein al-Shahristani will start in mid October a tour of visits to Australia, China, and Japan to sign oil cooperation protocols and to receive investment bids of companies in these countries,” the spokesman added.

The minister Shahristani is also expected to sign common understanding agreements with these countries to tackle unresolved issues similar to that of the southern Iraqi al-Ahdab oilfield investment contract, Jihad said.

“The oil ministry suspended a contract signed by a Chinese company with the previous regime to develop al-Ahdab giant oilfield in the south of Iraq,” the spokesman added.
