Tima: It is not easy, the Council reached political consensus on electoral law
A member of parliament for the Islamic Virtue Party Ammar Tohme told "Iraq is our house" "It is possible to lead the meetings of the National Security Council consensus on the election law but it is not as easy as imagined"
He explained that the assignment of Tohme election law came to the gap in viewpoints between the leaders of major political blocs, "after the debates in parliament reached an impasse," adding that the stalled adoption of the bill was originally due to the different visions of the leaders of political blocs around him and expressed by the members of Parliament belonging to them.
The Tima "With that the decisions of the Political Council is constitutionally obliged to return it, and ultimately to Parliament, but I think that will lead to meetings of the Council for a consensus on electoral law and thus the possibility of approval in parliament," adding that this comes under the principle of political consensus, which was adopted in resolving the Many of the things that were pending during the parliamentary session ended its mandate.

Impasse threatens Iraqi stability
Election law. Government will lose 'legitimacy' by delaying vote: PM
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki yesterday pushed for a resolution to a stalled election law, arguing that a delay to polls set for January would harm the legitimacy of Iraq's parliament and government.
An MP, meanwhile, predicted that a meeting of political leaders today will fail to reach agreement on the bill and the nationwide ballot will be postponed by one or two months.
"If it is postponed from the current date, the government will lose its legitimacy and parliament will lose its legitimacy," Maliki said in a statement released by his office.
"We will go back to square one and we will return to sectarianism ... Therefore, our voices must unite to hold the election on its present date."
The national security political committee, which is to meet at the presidential palace, is an advisory body comprising the presidential council, the prime minister, the two deputy premiers and heads of the main political parties.
It scheduled the meeting after the Iraqi parliament last Wednesday gave up on its attempts to agree on a new law to govern the general election, scheduled for Jan. 16.
If the committee reaches a deal today, parliament will meet again tomorrow to ratify the new law.
The deadlock threatens the poll as the law is supposed to be in place 90 days before voting. Constitutionally, the election must be held by Jan. 31.
"Sunday's meeting will not lead to a conclusion, chiefly because of the attitude of the Kurds," Nuredinn al-Khiyali, a Sunni MP for the Islamic Party, told AFP.
"It is a difficult subject and the elections could be delayed by one month or two," he said.
The parliamentary impasse has triggered U.S. concern that troops may have to stay on in numbers into next year, with an effect on redeployment options for Afghanistan.
As part of a Baghdad-Washington security agreement, U.S. combat troops must leave Iraq by the end of August and all U.S. forces must withdraw by the end of 2011.
At issue are proposed changes to the law that would require parties to publish full lists of their candidates rather than simply the name of their electoral list.
Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, spiritual leader of Iraq's Shiite majority, has opposed moves by some MPs to retain the existing legislation.
Another major stumbling block has been the fate of the oil-rich province of Kirkuk, which the Kurds have long demanded be incorporated in their autonomous region in the north despite the opposition of its Arab and Turkmen communities.
UN special envoy Ad Melkert warned Iraqi MPs the delay in setting the ground rules for the general election threatens to undermine "the credibility of the electoral process."
