Massum: We can reach an appropriate solution regarding elections law

In a press statement to Asharq Alawsat newspaper, the head of Kurdistan Alliance bloc in the Iraqi Parliament Dr. Fuad Massum said “we can reach an appropriate solution regarding the elections law approval.”

“I don’t think that VP al-Hashimi will veto the amended law again. But if he did, then the crisis will be bigger.”

Massum unveiled that parliamentarians and political figures are working to reach a legal and constitutional form for the law that satisfies all the parties.

“Unfortunately, the Kurdistan Alliance bloc members did not take their Eid’s holiday, because we are in continuous meetings with the remaining political and parliamentary blocs to reach an acceptable result. We have a very short time, especially the Eid’s holiday postpones the parliament’s sessions. In spite of that, we are optimistic that the elections can be carried out at their scheduled date”, Massum added.
