    Hassani: Deportation of economic laws to next Parliament is a deliberate omission

    United Nations favors Iraqi elections on 27 February next

    The United Nations Mission to help Iraq, its support for efforts to reach a compromise on the electoral law.

    The mission said in a press statement that the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq Ad Melkert welcomed the efforts made by all parties so far in order to reach compromise solutions to meet the interests of all groups and to show the strong will to reach agreement urgently on the election law for the benefit of the Iraqi people who deserves clarity at this point.

    She said the Special Representative of the Secretary-General Kofi Annan responded to many of the proposals to help find solutions to the few remaining issues relating to the electoral law and make available his good offices through numerous consultations with political leaders in order to help reach agreement.

    She stressed that the mission of the United Nations to help Iraq, strongly supports efforts to clarify the issues by Iraqis abroad, as well to include the distribution of seats should be distributed within the law and declare the final date for the elections to be considered the date February 27, 2010 a viable option for practical reasons, and unconstitutional.

    Al-Hashimi: delay in the elections is the responsibility of a mistake

    Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, "said the delay in the forthcoming elections is the responsibility of a mistake and not working to be corrected."

    Optimism about reaching a solution Tofiqi on the election law

    Salman Jumaili: we expect to urgent parliamentary session to vote on the political agreement on the election law
