Iraq has filed case against Blackwater: PM

Iraq has filed a lawsuit against private security firm Blackwater in a US court and will file another in Iraq, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Monday, amid fury over an American court dropping charges against five Blackwater guards.

"The US justice department has protested against this decision," Maliki said, referring to the ruling last week to dismiss criminal charges against the guards, who were accused of killing 14 Iraqi civilians in an unprovoked attack in September 2007.

"For our part, we have formed a committee and filed a case against Blackwater in the United States and will file one here in Iraq," he told reporters in the holy Shiite shrine city of Najaf in southern Iraq.
Maliki did not give any further details about the case.

Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said on Friday without elaborating that Iraq had "started to take the necessary measures to bring Blackwater to justice."

The guards, who had been part of a convoy of armoured vehicles, had been charged with killing 14 unarmed Iraqi civilians and wounding 18 others during an unprovoked attack at a busy Baghdad roundabout using guns and grenades.

Iraq says 17 people were killed.

US Federal Judge Ricardo Urbina dismissed the charges against the five, saying prosecutors violated their rights by using incriminating statements they had made under immunity during a US State Department probe.

The case was among the most sensational that sought to hold Blackwater employees accountable for what was seen as a culture of lawlessness and lack of accountability in the company's Iraqi operations.

Blackwater pulled out of Iraq in May, after the US State Department refused to renew its contracts. The company changed its name to Xe Services last year.

WFP: MoU with Iraq will help reduce poverty

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) described a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Iraqi Ministry of Trade as a “critical element” of a poverty reduction strategy, a ministry statement said on Tuesday.

This came during a press conference held by Trade Minister Safa Al-Deen Alsafi and the WFP Iraq Country Director Edward Kallon after the signing of the memorandum, according to the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

“This is a joint partnership, part of the process, led by the MoT, to improve and strengthen the Public Distribution System (PDS),” Kallon said.

“WFP, with more than 40 years of experience in international food assistance, can play a key role in helping improve the management of the PDS supply chain,” he indicated.

This partnership is a critical element of the Iraqi National Development Plan and Poverty Reduction Strategy, and the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) to strengthen social safety nets for vulnerable groups. It is also in line with the WFP’s five-year country strategy for Iraq (2010-2014), according to Kallon.

Asians and Africans are looking to get rich in Iraq

Tens of thousands of poor people in Asia and Africa, traveling to Iraq through the offices of travel agents in search of old posts, and considerable material benefit paid to foreign workers in this country as it swayed and persuaded them to middlemen and brokers.

The magazine Der Spiegel, German investigation, in its latest issue, for those workers who dream of wealth in the new Iraq. P "Ganesh Kumar" citizen of Nepal, a simple case, at the age of 22 years, had never heard of before about Iraq and knows where is located on the map, but one travel agent told him that there is a war in this country, and there are many jobs available and there and are looking for workers, and wages are very high, quite the opportunity, and the functions required for urgent action in Iraq is in restaurants, cleaning, construction worker can to get $ 1200 per month or about 850 euros for 8 hours of work per day with two days leave in week.

This is the information that made it "Kumar" to Enzdd often in front of this fantastic salary for him, Fmhunth factor in Nepal did not allow him to charge more than $ 50 per month, hatched the idea in his head completely and decided to sell his house in the small town, "Lahan", located in western Nepal The small plot of land owned by all for Euro 3700, and became assured that the amount is adequate to pay for the travel office in the capital of Nepal "Kathmandu", which will organize a trip to travel to Iraq and find appropriate work for, and then also pay for a plane ticket.

Claimed, "Kumar" poor miserable man who knows nothing about the events in Iraq in weaving dreams for his future bright pink after working in this country, in the first half of the year will be able to afford the trip, in the second half will purchase a new home for his parents and will be able to get married after that.

    Travel to Iraq

It's time to trip and Hessen Labor Office official who has dealt with him to the airport and then a plane to Iraq and left to its fate unknown ..

Arrived, "Kumar" to the Baghdad airport, formerly Saddam International Airport, a small bag in his hand .. and in front of the passport officer took one of his passport, and led to the area, about one kilometer to roughly one corner of the airport away, lined with hangars for Iraqi Airways when he arrived .. "Kumar" to this place, dropped in his hand immediately, there were dozens of men, apparently from Nepal are also in their appearance and sported signs of tiredness and fatigue, it is expected some of them in this place two months ago, and others for three months, sleeping on the ground and Ilthvon plastic bags, but do not have food or water, and waiting for any glimpse of hope gives them the opportunity to work in the land of dreams, at the moment is certain, "Kumar," The dream has become a mirage and he had been a scam from the travel agents in the Nepalese capital, Katmandu, especially since he did not find a delegate be received at the airport as promised, by did not find work ahead ...

Situation is driving poor people in Nepal have been displaced, more than 600 people a day traveling abroad, mostly to Malaysia, or go to Dubai, The poor, miserable seducer Viottaghon them to Iraq. In 2004 it was reported that 17 thousand Nepalese have moved to work in Iraq, in the same year also was abducted and killed 12 of them to pressure their government to prevent them from traveling to Iraq and to work with the occupiers.

Travel agencies are using these ordinary people and sending them to Baghdad, but did not know many of them to any destination are turning to it, they are up to Baghdad from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Uganda, the Philippines, Ethiopia and Indonesia. Tens of thousands of working in the U.S. bases in restaurants, cleaning and driving, they're very cheap labor compared to the Iraqis.

Kumar joined to 60 people of Nepalese in one of the hangars at the airport in Baghdad, and in three barns there was a large gathering of the world's poor, who deceived them for work in Iraq without them being aware of what is Iraq!

Kuwaiti company to cooperate with a U.S. company in the provision of other services to U.S. forces, 450 people used them, but quickly came under harsh conditions at work and accused the company of fraud and it's Atattiyhm salary agreed upon, and some of them could escape to Kuwait and from there returned to their home country while he a company spokesman said they got their full rights.

Every day trying to "Kumar" in the hangar that looking for a place protected from wind and cold, which increase with the night hours, and every three to four days attending to them a group of American soldiers and throw them food and water bags, each bag of beans, beans, eggs, rice, If the food make it any ordeal, but the voices of the landing and takeoff deaf ears in the night and day, they are living like prisoners at the airport do not have a passport and do not know anyone in this country, not even Tmakraudp plane to their home countries .. hey can not also Mbarahp the Green Zone for fear of murder or kidnapping.

"Kumar" did not know exactly what happened to him and how things changed in this way, because what he heard from the Office of Nepal's travel was something entirely different from what he sees now, it's all the time in the airport Aestma only words like .. Security .. Security .. To Aozaiv.

As such claimed "Kumar" with another group of Nepalese are thinking of what he did to their friend "were born Sherpa," who attended to them a week ago and when he saw what was happening, could not wait too long, decided to leave to return to Nepal.

Kumar will no longer any hope, he knows now that it's the will of God that wanted him, and decided to return to Nepal.

Kumar got a ticket to return from an international organization for migration and 6 other people a few days before returning to Kathmandu, returning again to their old lives as they were poor, and leaving Iraq is mired in problems.
