Barham Saleh: We do not want to politicize the Justice and Accountability Law, we do not support the removal of any party
Prime Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Barham Saleh on Tuesday refused to "politicize" the decision of the "justice and accountability" to prevent a number of blocks and figures to contest the elections.
Saleh told reporters on the sidelines of a forum for provincial councils in Arbil, "I do not hide our concern about these developments. We do not want to politicize the law of accountability and justice." In reference to the exclusion of candidates from the elections scheduled to be held on the seventh of March.
"We certainly do not support the exclusion of any party" but added, "there is a law must be applied away from the political considerations and should not become a way to exclude this or that party.
Salih stressed that the basis is national reconciliation and involving as much as possible in the political process and resorting to the ballot box. "Salih stressed" there is clear legal obligations towards those who committed genocide and crimes against the people must be dealt with according to law, but is the foundation of national reconciliation and to participate in the process political and renounce violence."
The decision of the justice and accountability to exclude 15 political entities from participating in the upcoming elections a political storm between the pros and cons and skeptical of its legitimacy because the House of Representatives did not pass so far, despite the formation of the approval of its own law in early 2008.
The parliament approved on Monday the formation of the discrimination that would consider the decisions of "justice and accountability" composed of seven judges nominated by the Supreme Council of Magistracy
