Biden: We will honor our promises and withdraw from Iraq in a timely manner
WASHINGTON (Drabin) said U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said the United States will fulfill its commitment to withdraw from Iraq in a timely manner.
The newspaper "Washington Post" the U.S. for Biden as saying, "It would be painful and going to see volatility, but I think that the end result is we will be able to fulfill our commitment."
Biden noted that the number of U.S. troops in Iraq will shrink to 50 thousand by next summer, even if Tertsm features a new Iraqi government.
He admitted that the situation in Iraq surpassed what people think, before, adding that all parties of ethnic and sectarian see the value in participating in politics.
He believed that "the glue that brings together the country is oil, is subject to a lot of oil when many of the gas in all parts of the country, and everyone thought that access to legitimate share of pie is a good deal more."
Biden expressed confidence that all the Iraqi leaders will agree to accept the Government of voters before the end of next August, the date to begin withdrawing from Iraq.
He considered that even if the parties did not succeed, the Transitional Government to work fine.
And played down speculation the escalation of violence because of All Fears, "which fell from the sky" has been resolved.
Biden pointed to Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq never asked the administration to delay the date of withdrawal, contrary to what Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Thursday.
Biden stressed that the Americans did not invest to stay as occupiers, but invested in working for the Iraqis, must now be to "withdraw military and civilian pay to interact with the Iraqis."
The newspaper quoted officials in the White House saying that the Iraqis rely more on politics rather than violence in dealing with differences, which reduces the need for U.S. forces.
But the newspaper found that the tangible reality on the ground proves that Iraq is still torn apart, as the rival parties to form new government despite the passage of 3 months to go before national elections as politicians warn of a power vacuum, including that of neighboring Iran working to influence the outcome.
She said Biden, who was one of the most prominent skeptics of U.S. intervention in Iraq, are now the most prominent supporters, which seeks to balance the design of the administration of President Barack Obama to leave Iraq in light of the growing concerns of some conservative pundits who say that current conditions make precipitous U.S. withdrawal is very dangerous.
But senior administration officials responded to say that democracy grow in Iraq, which received a defense by the local security forces that are improving, enough to solve the problems of the country in the presence of a smaller number of U.S. troops.
But some administration supporters contend that analysis of the issue of withdrawal depends on the increased demands in the war in Afghanistan is expected to reach U.S. troops in late summer to 100 thousand troops.
Referred to the withdrawal plan that provides for reducing U.S. troop levels in Iraq from 92 thousand to 50 thousand by the end of August next, to withdraw all at the end of 2011.
