Electricity projects in Basra to foreign firms only
The Basra Provincial Council has decided that electricity projects in the province have to be executed by foreign firms only.
“Specialized companies will only be allowed to execute such projects,” a source from the council told Aswat al-Iraq news agency on Monday.
He expected that these projects’ value exceeds ID100 billion.
“The Basra Provincial Council will invite foreign firms to delegate their representatives to Basra to discuss these projects,” the source added.

Hill optimistic over Iraq political process
US ambassador to Iraq Christopher Hill said he is optimistic over the dialogue between the Iraqi political parties which aim at forming a new government. The US Ambassador said that choosing the Iraqi Premier is a private Iraqi issue stressing that USA looks forward to cooperate with any government chosen by the representatives of the Iraqi people.
Forming a new government and the talks process show that the parties are hurrying towards solving the conflicts and complications that surround the government formation process, said Hill during the press conference held in the US Embassy in Baghdad. He also added that the aims of all the political parties stress that it is necessary to have a Cabinet that represents the Iraqi people and that realizes its ambitions without excluding any party. The meeting between Iraq current premier Al Maliki and the head of Al Iraqia List Ayad Allawi comes in the framework of the exerted efforts in order to push the political process forward.

Atta links Central Bank attack to Al Qaeda
Lieutenant Kassem Atta stressed that Al Qaeda traces are obvious in the attack that aimed the Central Bank adding that the operation started at the end of the end of official working hours. An explosive blasted near the electricity generator and after that a group of 4 terrorists broke into the principal door of the bank where security forces confronted them.
At that time the group members blasted themselves and a second terrorist group moved towards the second door. Security forces killed two terrorists and an intensive firing took place. Atta added that a fire erupted in some of the building floor which attained some documents and papers, however armed men did not detain any armed citizen inside the bank.

Death toll of Central Bank attack reaches 21
A source in the police said that the death toll of Central Bank attack and the clashes that took place therein reached 21 and more than 72 people were wounded. A source told Alsumaria News that a lot of papers and contracts in the Central Bank were burnt but the Central Treasury was not damaged.
To that, security sources said that the 16 attackers were dressed with army clothes and reached the Central Bank headquarters as a troop which is about to carry on an inspection.
The same sources added that the first suicide bomber blasted himself in the middle of Civil Defense troops when they went to the second floor in order to extinguish the fire. Afterwards, armed men set off the fire as others started to invade other floors. The same sources concluded by saying that the trigger of the operation is to prove the group’s existence and to challenge the state by breaking into one of its important symbols adding that the aim was not stealing.

Infallible opened the first parliamentary session of the absence of Talabani

Killing all insurgents who attacked the Central Bank of Iraq in central Baghdad
Said the director of security CBI said seven insurgents were killed while trying to break into the bank on Sunday afternoon, explaining that the incident also resulted in the fall of some 16 employees of the Bank of dead or wounded.
Abdel Mahdi al-Amiri told (Voices of Iraq) that the gunmen who tried to storm the Central Bank were all killed and their bodies were found at the scene of the seven bodies, pointing out that about 16 of the bank employees were killed or injured by the incident.
He explained that the material damage caused to the Iraqi Central Bank exchange building, but he also but the bank will not close its doors today (Monday).
The official spokesman of Baghdad Operations Command, Major General Qassim Atta said that security forces foiled an attempt to storm the Central Bank of Iraq Al-Rasheed Street in central Baghdad, on Sunday afternoon, indicating that the process killing three insurgents and killed 15 citizens dead or injured.
