Well, I do know a guy who gave Prudential a million dollars and they pay him 8% for 20 years and at the end of 20 years he gets his million back. I guess if you have alot of money other avenues open up to gain better interest. I can't wait to have that problem.lol

    Cool Where have you been

If you can investin in growth assets that produce income and growth, you shoudl be getting an average of 5-7% dividents with tax paid on them already, that is as good as 9-11% return from a CMT. And as long as in the long term your investment grows at only 3% per year your income will always grow in line with inflation. However that strategy is not for everyone, but even a conservative managed fund should be better than a CMT in the long run.

e.g if you were getting $67,500 per year from $1mil in the bank now. Assuming the rate was the same in 20 years, and inflation of 2.5%, your $67,500 in 20 years is only as good as earning $41,200 per year. Your income in dollars remains the same but the purchasing powere reduces.
Thanks for that info. neno needs to get smarter with the big bucs. I will wake up. Everyone hit Australia right????? just kidding.
