Thanks Daydreamer for the time it gave me to share that officer's thoughts for home and family and the gathered facts from ground level as he sees it daily...unlike the Bill O'Reilly that is better advised to stay at home or go sweep the steps of Capitol Hill!.
I particularly praise that move by the Mayor as the best rambo revival to increase motivation among Iraqis to fight for their liberation against insurgents, not against each other into body bags or burial pits that are filled at every daily count on casualties.
Interesting read, I wish Oprah would someday devote at least a minute devoted to the brave men who does not get to watch while on field duty but at the Iraqis through their parabolic dishes who gets to hear from Lady Oprah in reminding each viewer what life is all about and why it is precious to respect another and reap the fruits by staying alive and prosper with all the aid given to them from the international community...it may drive a cool message to the Iraqi folks about their conscience to wards the soldiers who are simply risking their lives to save Iraqis and their right to live with the rest!
It might richochet among the men visiting their mosques and questioning/brainstorming with others and their clergy regarding what is totally wrong with their mindset towards harmony...which the West wants to uphold as opposed to death pursued by the Islamic community between the Sunnys and Shi ítes.

Fortunately no fatalities reported yet. The 25th ID out of Hawaii is in Iraq; the last thing they need is to be worried about their families. Quick prayer for everyone!

Thanks Daydream for sharing
Every now and again we remember and catch a glimpse of what truely is going on in Iraq. Having an 18 yr old myself, my heart goes out to the parents and spouses of all teh servicemen and women. Bravery!!! What can I say I am held speechless.
I pray with all my heart and sole that this damn Reval happens SOON - NOW would be better. So that we can move closer and closer to the days when our service men can come home. Hoopefully not on to the next War that is Concocted by this administration.
If I ruled the world. I would move the majority of the troops to protect the boarders and the airports (at home and abroad). Just dont froget to pay attention to what is happening right under our noses right here in the USA.
Tourture, Spying, you name it - the bush adminsitration is re-writing the Constitution as we speak. breaking news
soon entering into the military will not be an option, but an obligation, imposed upon our children.
On of the main reasons for my investment in dinar - was that it will happen away with or without my contribution - so if you cant beat them join them and take my money and get out of Dodge.

I would love to see the draft come back mainly due to the fact that it has been proven that the quality of the military (which is good already) becomes even better with the cross section of the talented population that a draft provides. Every male in my family that was 18 years old by 1971 was drafted and served proudly, including me, and I believe that serving is an obligation that should be cherished...not considered an imposition. How the heck do you think we have been able to maintain our freedom all these years? My nephew who just turned 18 went down and registered and did not complain about it and made us all proud. I say bring it on!! LOL
