I would like to thank all those involved in keeping this forum open with the bits of news re Pips that does come to hand. I only check in occasionally. So thanks again everyone and especially the admin group.

It's quite common for SE Asians to take an English-style name as well as their own. So Phan Kew Sen (I think) took Sharon as an English-style name.

Unless one is born a Christian, and again registered through the church, followed by the Registry of Births Dept Office, a Christian affiliated name is only said, mentioned and remains unofficial and NOT included in any legal document.

If Sharon was never a Christian but then became converted by virtue of marriage to Bryan and he, being a Christian himself and both had a Christian marriage ceremony... her name may still not be officially recognized on any legal document.... but what the heck, its not a big issue there esp. in a Muslim country, it's not like we're viewing it within Ireland or Italy...

Anyways......one question, that has been raised is, "why hasn't Sharon's family posted bail?". The reason for the question is that it is understood that money is not an issue within her family, so why no bail money????

Granted, I do not fully understand the culture, but I do seem to remember something about shame playing a big role in decision making.
Could this have anything to do with why bail has not been posted?

If so, besides the possible shame that the family may have had for Bryan,
could it be that Phan Sew Ken's choice to change her, familiy given, name to Sharon have anything to do with the family's decision to leave things as they are?

Maybe nothing, but sometimes I just ponder!

Like everything else ever heard about these two, it was all BS, so I doubt her family ever had money as was the rumor, so that would explain why no bail was ever presented to release her.

There are many reasons why no one came forward with bail, but even people of modest wealth could have posted bond for a fraction of full bail. Then again, if her parents had any assets at all, they could have borrowed money, so I think there is far more to this mystery then we will ever know.

Thinking about it, I would have sold my sole to get my daughter out of a third world prison, never mind the club feds in U.S. where the likes of Martha Stewart was sent to. (g)

Good point, Mike. I would also do anything in my power to get my kids out of jail, as would anyone (as long as they aren't serial killers or something). Therefore we can probably assume that Sharon's parents cannot afford to make the bail.

One can indeed speculate on many possible options but at the end of the day, cultural values DOES play a big role when a close family is involved where pride needs to be saved and protected... whatever it takes...but on the other hand, pride can be wholly & deliberately severed too and all heads looking the other way and responding indifferently as of then depending on the nature of the situation.

This is rather difficult to assume however, whatever becomes the fate both are facing... we simply cannot guess or assume correctly, just what lies behind the cause and absence in bailing them both out...on the second and much higher amount as opposed to the earlier sum of RM100K each, and since that was violated with Bryan setting up Hallotto and the 10 by 5 Cycler Program (this was a grave & serious rebuke to the Courts ruling on their freedom during bail period), a thousand & one other reasons it could have been but I won't like to be presumptuous here as it serves no real purpose...I won't in anyway, gain any satisfaction even if my own assumption was correct... it is quite irrelevant but yes, some and you included, might want to know, since there is nothing else left to do while waiting, I don't blame you either.

One thing is for sure.... they both are and will have, to fend for themselves for the actions they took and eventually, be facing the accusation and or penalty (this is again a wait & see outcome, not speculation...) the Courts have found them responsible and preparing them to face trial for their actions that may not comply to Malaysian Laws..

Again, it is interesting for sure, for there is fodder for debate and intellectual assessment for the time being as to why, they were NOT Bailed out on the second opportunity...???

It sure struck an eerie cord to bear witness on those many and silent pro Bryan & Sharon supporters, are they truly supporters just by claiming only or, they are a worser pool of piranhas... when their time to settle scores, shows up....

I only fear the thought of it all....
