To ME..it seems that you have already made up your mind about these characters GN and IB ...who IMHO Probably is some of the KEY persons for bringing Pips into the situation we are ALL currently facing...

to be just innocent pieces in the play...

and here we differ in our Mind Set..

Thank you for refreshing my memory. Conforming to the update you posted, it seems like GN had the authority to give updates.

Thank you for your inputs. For me it was never black or white and I was never certain that my opinions represents the truth. I will keep an open mind. As Hasse said, the logic and connections are different from different perspective, and we should give equal consideration to all.

OK, Largo... we'll continue there and decide then what's worth leaving public here (not much my guess).
For the record: I haven't made my mind up yet... something I would advise everybody to strive for... and which was also the point I wanted to make in my post. Let that be clear.
Just let this not be typical that I (or anyone) is being judged based on one post where I, for the love of god, no more than just ask people to look at things from another person's possibly valid perspective too... To me there is only gain in an open mind... Turn it however you want, this is a pretty hard nut to crack for many... given many discussions around most fora no matter about which subject (apple vs MS, US foreign policy, pips, BM's former collegues,...)... Most people's perception of the world (including mine) just isn't that broad as they would like to be...

We should be very careful about those we accuse of complicity in the plan to bring down PIPS.

I heard that a group of business men wanted to take over PIPS but Bryan wouldn't hear of it - could be that they wanted to maximise profits for themselves. Maybe they are the main architects of the present state of affairs??

Whilst there seems to be evidence of insider theft, I do not think that we have adequately explored the part played by banks and financial groups/institutions. Perhaps this would be an avenue to explore in greater detail.

Very good points Hilary and one reason why I put Gary's post up again was to remind everyone of how positive he and indeed all at Pips were in April 2005, well after the Convention but not that long before the closure.

Gary's post acknowledged that there were some problems with the Banks but there was also confidence expressed that those problems could be surmounted.

At the Convention Gary warmly described Bryan as at times a visionary and at times an ordinary man who was making a dream come true for the ordinary man. That of financial freedom. Progress since he joined Pips was described as being "phenomenal" and he was fortunate and proud to have been a part of that success. As general manager he had two years to form an opinion of his boss and his colleague and his friend. As the man who was in charge of the trading side of the company and the man who explained more than anyone else how easy it was for Pips to earn our 2% four times over how could he have been so mistaken as to explain his standpoint only two months later?

There was no sign at that point of a change of opinion that would cause Gary and his son to be so scathing about both Bryans incompetence as a CEO and his integrity by calling him a con man.

Now the questions are.

Was this about face genuine and if so what caused it. Did something happen which caused Gary to lose respect for Bryan so suddenly? Did Bryan choose to ignore a warning offered by Gary? Did Bryan discover some act of disloyalty on the part of Gary?

Changes at that time included the arrival of Warren Webb, supposedly a lawyer but with a rougher tongue than John Prescott who would later behave in such an unprofessional way as to make people question not only his qualifications but his mental stability. He was brought in by Gary. Did he read the situation in Pips so differently as to cause Gary to completely lose faith?

As an aside to this WW complained that he did not have access to enough information to do his job properly. On what information then did he base his assertions that Pips was a scam? At the same time as WW was making these remarks, the UK consultants were returning to base two months earlier than expected citing the same reasons, lack of access to information necessary to adequately prepare a re-structure plan to a more than "basic" standard.

Indications were that Bryan already felt isolated and mistrustful and was holding his cards close to his chest, perhaps not allowing access to the accounts to those who were there ostensibly to help him. Was he regretting trusting Gary to recruit so many of the key players?

Or was the about face a deliberate deception to allow everyone apart from Bryan to distance themselves from the enquiry while Bryan took the whole responsibility.

When the enquiry is over will Gary return to his desk?

Will he be the squirrel who produces the cache of nuts and shares them out with us all?

Stranger things have happened.

My scenario is completely circumstantial but then so was the case against him.

Just a slightly "tongue in cheek" couple of bobs worth :)
