SINGAPORE, September 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will sign a Paris Club agreement to write off Iraq's debt of about $10 billion, the Russian finance minister said Sunday.

"Technicalities are being settled at the moment," Alexei Kudrin said, adding the debt could be written off in the next few months.

The write-off follows an agreement in November 2004 by the Paris Club nations to cancel about 80 percent of the Iraqi debt to each of the club's 19 creditor nations.

Kudrin said Iraq would only owe Russia over $1 billion, including interest, after the write-off.

This is my first post on this forum, but I have been around for awhile and I am definately a YEASAYER. I am a big fan of SGS and I strongly believe that she believes. I know we are close to a RV, but with the debt issues still being resolved I wonder can we still have a RV today?

I am still intrigued by Sec Gen Kofi's comment last week about pessimsts being suprised on the 18th . . .that and his comments in his press conference the other day.

Either its gonna happen or not . . .if not I will have doubled my IQD holdings in the past week in my last minute ordering frenzy. I made a couple dealers some dough. I will worry about paying for them later . . . thought that 7 million was better than 3 million . . .had a greed attack fueled by rumors.

Whatever . . .if it happens and my orders cancel . . .that doesnt bother me. If the orders arrive, than I am better off when it does happen . . .its a win win for me . . .but I would rather have the millions now than later

    tick tick tick tick

Who said it was going to trade on the Forex? The forex is only for the G7 correct. Now RollsRoyce you claim to be a retired financial guy. So surely you would know this right? The dinar will be traded where the other ME currencies trade. I use to have a link for that the but cannot find. It is considered an exotic currency!!!!!!!!! lol

The international community has a high stake in achieving long-term political and economic stability in the Middle East. In this light we support the Government of Lebanon's efforts towards reconstruction, development and economic reform. We welcome donors' commitments to help Lebanon, and look forward to a deeper involvement of the IFIs. We discussed economic prospects in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and agreed to keep this under review. We also welcome the launch of the international Iraq compact.

Why would the Iraqi government allow the reval to just showup on the Australian Forex, . . . .
just to clearify one point, it is not really "the Australian Forex". it is a global currency exchange that happens to open each week based on the start of a trading monday in Australia.
