Thread: is this how kuwaiti dinar revaled

i guess the heading says it all, does anyone know if this is how the kuwait dinar revalued? does anyone know anyone that was a part of that.?

if so did they make a fortune?
was it hard for them to do?
did it take as long?
how much did they pay for there money?
is our situation anywhere similar to what happened then?

Hi deepfreeze, I think the person you need to ask about this one is Mike (OSW). He is one of the originators of this investment for most of us and I think he was involved in the kuwait dinar. I am sure he has posted on this before and could probably be found in the history thread. Know for sure he is the one who says "we hold a winning lottery ticket - just don't know when the draw will be made".

The only ones that made money off this investment were the boots on the ground...it was never official on the books that the currency plumited to i believe people say 10 cents on the dollar. You had to be i kawait to get it at these prices and yes contractors and soldiers made money on this investment...also keep in mind the internet wasnt a booming thing like it is now,,,,so not many people if anyone unless you were overthere got to take part in this speculation that paid off huge in the long run. im not much into history, when did this happen?
was it a similar deal, were they were introducing a brand new currency, or was it the existing money that dropped in value, then was bought up, and sat on until value went up again?

yes i heard and followed more than closely, my dept had to be on continuous standby as we had to stock many gas masks and medical supplies for our Saudi soldiers and families and those in Xpats we have in our own private compounds! i know many must have been very fortunate to come away quite rich at the right time when the storm in a teacup raged between Saudi, Kuwait and Iraq.

OSW told me personally that he did very well with the Kuwait money but could have done much, much better if he had not been warned by almost every professional he spoke to that it was a bad idea and would most likely loose his shirt so, he did not go all in. He said that won't happen this time.

if he spoke to those same professionals today, about our dinar i wonder what they would have to say. on that subject, what does the investment community say about our dinar? are there more naysayers than there are those who think this is a very sound investment?

kwietie, excuse my spelling. where did it start at ,how long did it take to reach 1.00 mark, does anyone know?

Each and every professional I have talked with about dinars gave them the big pooh pooh.
