I came to this forum to begin with because I was told this was a friendly and helpful forum. When I first visited it was in the middle of whatever was going on a few days ago and I thought surely any rudeness must be gone after that. I have to say that some of you are very unpleasant. I came and shared what info I had and asked for input but instead I found sour attitudes. I haven't posted again because I was waiting to here back from the person that originally told me of the impending currency replacement. I asked him about the arguments that arose after my previous post, hoping your explanations were what he actually meant to say. After a lengthy discussion today he assured me that the dinar will be replaced soon. The new dinar will be lower denominations that will be exchanged for the current notes, but not in the way I had expected. they will exchange the 25,000 notes for new 25 dinar notes, 10,000 dinar notes for new 10 dinar notes, and so forth. He says that he was in on the planning of the dinar prior to the war and that the new dinar was printed at the same time as the current dinar. That is all I have to share and seeing how I was treated I doubt I should have shared that. I hope everyone can be a little more kind, I was only looking for some hope and feel like I have been outright attacked.

How does your friend come by this information? You post a controversial statement as you have, you should provide as much information as possible to substantiate your point of view. This will help eliminate people having to fill in the blanks and help you seem credible. But when you do these drive by postings, providing little or no information or don't provide any updates, even to say you are still waiting, that can be most helpful. You have to understand many have been in this ventrue from the begining and are now, hopefully near the end of the journey. Then you come in with news of a reprint with little or no backing information or links, it just doesen't sit very well. Hope this helps explain the vibe of this thread. Most here are genuinely helpful and courteous, but you have to do your part as well.

2loan,
This topic has been discussed here too many times as it is...is the person who told you this opinion a person in the know in Iraq, or just another speculator? The experts at R/C have come to a different conclusion than your contact after hundreds of hours of research and discussion.
Best to all,

Like I said above, he was part of the group that planned the dinar prior to the war. I cannot provide a link because he told me himself. That is all I have, I wish I could give you more information but that's all he told me. I really hope is wrong because I want this to happen more than anyone. I really want someone to prove he is wrong so I can stop worrying.

OK guys. New question.
What are the pros and cons of why the Iraqi's will or will not employ a LOP of their currency?

I don't know much about a LOP, but, if my thinking is correct, their current financial standing wouldn't benefit from it as they would have made many business enemies and would lose trade value with other countries. Their inner structure wouldn't be able to stand, like it isn't really standing now, and the strikes that are going on now would only increase leading the country past the war torn economy straight into an all out depression.
However, if there isn't a LOP, and a revalue is issued and is honored by the world, then the country goes from poverty to riches virtually over night. The buying power of every individual Iraqi would increase drastically, not to mention their governments financial power on the world market.
So, in my mind and in MY opinion, we are headed for a RV without a LOP.
