With the easiest answer to stop the bombings right under their noses, sure is amazing to see these delays continue on and on when such a simply answer is to restore the dinar and put the wealth in the hands of the people who can then determine their own futures.

We know the corruption is rampant, but we also know the wealthy are not the ones blowing themselves up in suicide bombings. No doubt people are getting fed up with bombings aimed at the innocent woman and children, but in every single case it involves those who have nothing to lose.

I've said it a million times, end the poverty, spread the wealth and 99% of the suicide bombings will end. Too little has happened over the past year to help the poor, still no electricity 24/7 in most areas of country, not enough internal fuel for vehicles or to heat homes, the basics are still being denied to the poor. End poverty and you end the need for U.S. to remain in Iraq, simple.

The Kurds have been pushing for the dinar restoration for years as they know what it will mean for their poor citizens. They have had a much more stable governement and far less unemployment, and as we have all seen over the years, hardly anyone is blowing themselves up in Kurdistan region, so we have to ask ourselves, why? Isn't it obvious that the more content people are the less likely they will blow themselves up? Even if some don't value their lives as much as we in the west do, one thing that remains universal is those with the money do not blow themselves up for any cause, moral or otherwise, spread the wealth around Baghdad, and do it before elections or you will find people will be bombed at voting polls, it is really that obvious, so the pressure has to be on decision makers like never before.

EXACTLY Mike....you have said it best....its not the rich ones blowing themselves up....its the poor...and now they are finally bombing the depts. of finance and labor and such..just might get their attention....finally to get off their A** and revel....and pass these laws that will make all of Iraqi's prosperous...not just the certain few...Pat

Along with those issues Mike mentioned, Maliki gave a speech today saying that unemployment will not be an issue by the end of 2009. That's a bold claim. How's he going to "make it happen"?
1) Revalue the IQD
2) Distribute oil profits throughout the country, if they ever get the final leg of the HCL Law ironed out, and they get production jacked up.
Speaking of oil production, the final contracts were just awarded. It would have made sense to wait for this to be finished if they wanted to justify the higher rate they asked for as now they can point to the contracts and tell the IMF "Look what we have in the works- now give us that $2+ Reval rate we want!"
Oh, and I need to say that I wasn't real serious when I posted the bit about the genuine plot of the World Bank to tax currency exchange- holding up the RV, it was a convenient time to slip in the expose' on Global Warming.
Anyway, in spite of what we perceive to be "delays"...I'm liking the odds for the RV happening in the next 5 days, based upon opinions of others.

Being the chief contributor of the Rumor Mill is like being King of a dung hill:
I won't go into all the reasons I don't like to post rumors (again), because the bottom line is- I do it anyway, like it or not! Just because something
(well, okay, everything...up to this point....) doesn't come to pass as rumored, doesn't mean the rumor was fabricated as a hoax. And truthfully, there have been several things that have come to pass, but most often the timing was a little off is all.
Here is the latest from those I trust to provide the best Intel / info:
Excuses, excuses, excuses....We all want to know WHY there has been no RV since all the essential pieces to the puzzle seem to have been put in place? We finally saw the EL agreed upon, the last of the Oil Contract auctions are over, the CBI has removed mountains of currency from circulation (check out Seaview's posts- #861 & #862 in Think Tank). Then we come to the T. Reuters deal and also the prestigious invitation for listing the IQD on the FOREX.
I ask you man, what else could there possibly be?
The answer is..........nothing. Not even Chapter 7 is an issue, nor is Kuwait.
There is nothing left to fall into place. The UN has had their final meetings. and the new value has been determined at $2.47 USD per dinar.
The only thing holding up the RV announcement is.........the computer system.
The system that will allow all the banks, all the currency exchange houses, all the financial institutions, all the traders around the globe to operate flawlessly, smoothly, without error- which is an absolute must- still needs a little more time to get all kinks worked out. We experienced two trials within the last month or so; one was for interbank exchange and the other was for the FOREX, I believe. There remains just a little more tweaking to be done and we are golden.
Monday is looking good to me- based upon the rumors of others....

thanks Al...as i stated in an earlier post your rumors are not the malicious type "DONE DEALS" rumors of former rolclub members who always wanted to shine as being the ones who had the best INTEL,if you may....you state yours in a way that explains logically why an RV should be taking place shortly....and all of your points are legit....the only hold back is themselves[Iraqi government]...lol...but it is going to happen....and as far as I am concerned it might as well be this year....lol...lets do it already....GO DINARS...Pat

Al, can't say it any better than Pat. Appreciate your insights. As we all know, there is no secret intel that will point the way to RV, it will happen when it happens. Socata and I discuss this daily and he really likes something before elections. I am not as positive as years back, but continue to hope. God Bless the RC family and Merry Christmas all. 67

No Kidding? Socata is still around? Get his butt on here already. I haven't seen him here for many months!
I have been excited in anticipation of an "immanent" RV before- several times. Two of which have been within the past couple of months. (So much for MY credibility!) But I have never had so many hard reasons to justify being excited in anticipation of an immanent RV as I have today. Before, as in 3 years ago for example, I had a rumor and speculation and a gut feeling that maybe the rumors are right, it COULD happen in a few days!
Today, I have several hard issues of evidence, plus numerous rumors from wide and varied sources which are in harmony with each other- but not orchestrated. Today my gut feeling says- this really is it, that it is only a matter of.....hours; as within the next 72 hours or so.

Now, once again, may I respectfully give my opinion why there has been a hold up- why this RV hasn't happened yet. I realize that when frustrations run high- mine included, it is easy to blame the GOI (Government of Iraq) ESPECIALLY when it is obvious to the whole world that their government as a whole is EXTREMELY corrupt. We had the news article parading around the globe that Iraq is what- 4th from the bottom of all countries with governments, #1 being the worst for corruption?
But we must understand that today's Iraq is a modern day "Project on Democracy" It is sort of like a reversal of the American Revolution. Outside forces, the UN and the US, went into the land, took charge and FORCED changes....kind of like a C-Section, where the child who wasn't willing to leave the womb, didn't ask to be born and didn't arrive through the natural order of things- but was surgically removed and thrust into the light and told to start growing up. Oh yeah- we are going to nurse you along the way to ensure you make it.

Left to themselves, the Iraqi's would have never made it. Many have tried very hard to NOT allow them to make it- even with "adult supervision" and nurturing all along the way..........And that is precisely my point. Iraq has not been calling the shots for anything affecting the outside world. Make no mistake about it. The debts, the oil & gas, the water, etc., and yes- the RV....affect the world.

Maliki has had many shortcomings as a presidential figure but with the monumental task before him, who else could have done as good or a better job than he has? And Shabibi as the head cheese of CBI is without peer. These two stood in the vortex amid a whirlwind of pressure from all fronts. The only ones these two were in cahoots with were the UN/US and the IMF- period! Say what you want but until you show me hard evidence, I cannot honestly believe they were so corrupt that they were delaying the RV to further their own gains. They couldn't. They have been at the mercy of those calling the shots- and that would be the UN/US. The RV could not be allowed to occur until everything was ready to benefit BOTH Iraq AND the UN/US.

Ladies and Gentlemen, except for the final tweaking of computer systems affecting the global banking system- EVERYTHING IS READY!

they still haven't passed the oil and gas law which has been in parliament since Feb. 2007...this is the law that will benefit their OWN people...and it still is not passed.....so this Iraqi government is not credible at all..that's what i mean by they don't give a rats a** about their own people....those in power seem to want to keep everything for themselves....and until the oil and gas law is passed,I personally,don't think we will see a revel....that's why i don't get sky hi like i used to about all these rumors....they don't pan out....for what ever reason....i know everything is in place for a revel....but they still have to pass that oil and gas law for the people to benefit....that's whats holding up the process...the ones that have it now want to keep it all for themselves....that is the only way to look at that situation....GO DINARS...Pat
