I discovered this thing to my chagrin - Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, etc. have stopped supporting Java.

I thought it was my frantic effort to remove the malicious Counterflix and DNS Unlocker from my system. I contacted some experts who later told me that the above named browsers no longer support Java plugin.

Now, Java is a very useful application, supported by more than a billion devices. There are web-based and desktop applications that are useful and use Java. Those offline and desktop applications still work but web-based applications don’t work again.

Luckily, Internet Explorer and Safari still support Java.


Why did Chrome, Mozilla, Opera, etc. stop supporting Java? Could it because of money-related issue, unsustainability or misunderstanding?
