This should welcome any avid angler out there to share his/her time here once the line is reeled in with that "prize" catch hauled in. I just got a PM from a fellow ROLCluber who had returned from a fishing weekend. Looking forward to hear more and perhaps, some good pics to relish from... 8)

Give me a late quiet evening in a rowing boat at a calm sea and a line of hooks hanging from the rear.. I am rowing slowly over the best fishing place.
I stop rowing and pull the line of hooks up - It has a fish on every second hook! That’s what I call fishing!!!!!!
Did I mention that I am the daughter of a fisherman? :D

Daughter of a fisherman, yes! We live from what the sea has to offer us, and fish is food with a big F !
My mother was/is an excellent fish cook and I can still see her in my head preparing all the fish my father took home for her to make fishcakes and other delicious food for us.....ummmmm!
We were 8 children in my family and needed a lot of fish........ :)

In a "nut shell", my next nice catch of a cool fish, as big as Shell's apetite... :P will be hauled in just for her!!! :D :D
Could be a "halibut" but then, that's off Alaska and that's in one of my long sought after trips too... 8) 8)

nice halibut there , we catch halibut here too but smaller & in a lot deeper water than they usually fish in Alaska. A friend of mine was a captain at some lodge in Alaska for several years, he said they usually fished in 60-120 feet of water. around here they fish in 800-900 feet. You use 40 ounces of lead to get the bottom or more if there is any wind ! I know of a few people that have electric reels for fishing that deep I hate bringing up my line unless I have a fish on ( I don't have an electric reel) Well when things get going again we might have to have a fishing trip to Alaska ?
By the way yes I have caught halibut here & skate & octopus on my halibut fishing trips.Last edited by thinksnow; 08-11-2005 at 08:28 AM.

Nothing like a late, or all-nighter, out on the lake when a brood of massive lunker cats come looking for late night summer breeding. Those chicks (female cats) know how to slam dunk a line that will get your adrenaline pumping like you can't imagine, if it doesn't break your line the moment they strike. Have fun!!
I still love Shell's idea of catching a whole school in one swoop of the hooks!!

All that fish......Shelly dear, you'll soon need to watch that line there....
I once had those Catfish meat marinated in a special sauce, specially spruced up to make a tasteless species tastes like ostrich!!! Thats when I give a thumbs UP for them since...but have little pleasure reeling them in...
