try to set up free blogs and fill it with articles and backlinks link xchange can also work if you partner up with the right people

Well having that is not sufficient, you need to increase your presence over the internet, otherwise how would people come to know about your site and the updates made on your site. You need to constantly work on the other SEO methods as well.

But this single technique doesn't help you to get traffic for the efforts you put in and the time you spend. Try with other techniques too and update your site frequently, not necessarily daily, and spend rest of the time with implementing other techniques.
